The Silver Comet District The Silver Comet Trail begins 11 miles northwest of Atlanta and upon its completion will stretch to the border of Alabama. The origin of the Silver Comet Trail was a train that traveled from the Southern States of the USA to New York City. The trail travels a partial route of that famous Silver Comet train. It can be accessed at a variety of points along the trail and can be traveled by walking, biking and horseback. Much of the path has been paved to allow the disabled to also enjoy the journey. The Magnolia Group, now known as the Silver Comet District, chose our name based in part on our membership's geographic proximity to the Trail. However, our primary purpose for our name dealt with the similarities associated with a journey or path. Of equal regard was the ability to access the path at any point and its availability for all who choose to take advantage of the beauty to be seen and explored, as is true of our chosen practice. Therefore, the SILVER COMET DISTRICT Mission Statement is as follows: We will journey down the path of life, strong in faith and positive in our attitude. We will, along the way, pause to bring others on board. In doing so we can all savor life's wonderful journey towards perfect happiness.
